“Do What You Say And Say What You Mean” -- Unknown author

I have been asked many times over the years, “Why are you a personal injury attorney?”

There is a huge misconception that is offered by the media, and the corporate interests that control the media, that many times when people complain they are hurt after an accident they are not telling the truth. First of all I can honestly attest that the overwhelming majority of people I have had the opportunity to counsel over the years are in fact hurt. I am sure there are some people who over-exaggerate their injuries or may actually not be injured. I can tell you in 25 years of representing people, the vast majority are injured, in pain, require medical treatment and lose out on the quality of life they enjoyed prior to the accident. These people have lost wages and potentially their entire careers. These are the people that I represent and am happy to represent them.

Sometimes the injuries are not that severe and it may only be a six-month ordeal that I assist them through. Sometimes however the injuries are very severe, including dismemberment, disfiguring and even death. The ramifications and effects from these events may linger for years, if not for the rest of their lives.

Why choose an experienced attorney to represent you. I could analogize to my own situation when something around my home needs to be repaired. I am not very handy and if I do attempt to fix something I typically make it worse. That’s why It’s very refreshing to have someone show up at my home and be truthful with me about what needs to be done. Someone who gives me an idea of the plan and the course of events it will take to correct the problem. Then they complete the task as they explained. Well I believe that’s my job as an attorney – to help people through the difficult time and the confusing insurance and legal complexities that go along with a personal injury claim. I have 25 years’ experience handling these cases and can rely upon that experience, knowledge and the skills I have obtained over the years to formulate a reasonable and viable plan and then complete that plan as promised.

Early in my career I practiced a number of areas of law, including personal injury, criminal defense, divorce litigation, commercial litigation, and general civil litigation. Those experiences helped me understand that many situations involve more than one area of law. Personal injury cases can affect an ongoing divorce proceeding or existing criminal matter. They can have ramifications on a business matter that require knowledge in the commercial field. I believe this well-rounded foundation allows me to formulate a plan for my clients by looking at the big picture.

Over the past 25 years I have been involved in hundreds of jury trials, bench trials, and mediations. I have tried cases in county court, circuit court, federal court and even in Tallahassee in the Florida Supreme Court. I have also had the opportunity to teach the trial teams at Stetson University College of Law and taught various law classes as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida. I have also been asked by my peers to speak and given lectures on various legal topics and matters.

You will NOT see me on the back of a taxi cab, a billboard, on a bus stop bench, on t.v., or hear me on the radio. I pride myself on obtaining my clients generally through referrals -- referrals from former clients, friends, neighbors, and other professionals, including lawyers, doctors and local business people.

I am a civil trial attorney who practices exclusively in personal injury law. I practice law in the state of Florida, as well as the Federal Court of Florida’s Middle District and have past and present memberships and associations that include the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, the Florida Justice Association, Florida Bar Association, Sarasota Bar Association, Manasota Trial Lawyers Association, University of Florida Liberal Arts Alumni Association, Alpha Tau Omega Alumni Association, Stetson University College of Law Alumni Association, and The Inns of Court in Sarasota.
